Detection Dog Training

Falco K9 Academy trains the finest detection dogs in the business. Our Explosive, Narcotics, Incendiary (Arson) and Mold detection dogs are certified to the highest standard possible. We also train Gun, Alcohol or any other type of detection dog to locate any specific odor.
It is important to note the following:

• Falco K9 Academy is licensed by the ATF and Orange County Fire Authority to use REAL explosives for training purposes. High explosives such as C4, ANFO, PETN, RDX, Dynamite and TNT.
• Falco K9 Academy is licensed by the DEA to maintain and transport REAL narcotics for training purposes. This includes, Methamphetamine, Heroin, Cocaine and Ecstasy.

There are few private companies who have the above licenses much less both!

Andy Falco uses his expertise and experience to train the handlers to effectively use our trained detection dogs. Andy has also handled a detection dog for the City of Anaheim. Andy still handles Narcotics, Explosives and Mold Detection Dogs during contracts with private organizations. He also has established deployment protocols for the Disneyland Resorts and theme parks. His experience is invaluable for the handlers he trains.

As with the patrol-trained dogs, public/customer contact and PR are just as important as the detection work and therefore this is also stressed in the training of the handler and dog. Some trainers feel obedience is unimportant or it even gets in the way of the dogs effectiveness. Falco K9 Academy does not believe obedience can be ignored in the training of a detection dog. Therefore this to is an important aspect in the dog and handlers training. So in the end, you have an effective searching team that is also obedient and professional in appearance.
